On Friday we made observations on what happened when the rain (food coloring) got too heavy for the shaving cream (clouds). I was so engulfed in the experiment I didn’t get any pictures except of one of the jars afterwards. However if you want to watch what happened or if you were absent Friday, here’s a YouTube video that shows what we saw! Friday was our last day on clouds, when we come back, PLANTS!

We have been learning about our government. We finished our unit Friday. To celebrate, we had a governor worker, a soldier come in and talk to to second grade. He answered their questions, passed around some of his equipment, and even gave each of the kiddos a toy soldier to remember the day.
Friday for specials we went to rotations in the gym hosted by our fabulous specials teachers. We celebrated Spanish Heritage Month. Thanks Ms. Diaz, our wonderful Spanish teacher, for putting it all together. We had a blast, from making paper flowers, maracas, coloring, and playing games.
Show and tell has been a popular coupon to request if ending the day on purple. It’s fun because the students get to have the floor and practice being the teacher and run carpet time right after recess to share their item. It’s been a lot of fun for me and the whole class.
We are working on place value and relating ones tend and hundreds to $1, $10, and $100 bills!! If you want to help your child at home in math, skip count by 10s in the car (past 100)! Ask your child what are place value disks and ask them if they could draw 165 (or any number under 1000) with place value disks. We just introduced them and they are a huge part of 3rd grade’s place value curriculum.
We will be covering place value for two more weeks, all the way until fall break! You should’ve revived this letter on Friday. Please do not allow your child to bring a toy to school unless they show you their reward coupon of stuffed animal or show and tell. After and before show and tell it must stay in the backpack otherwise it can be taken. The stuffed animal can not be a distraction to the student or others or it is also subject to being taken. If a toy is confiscated parents must come and pick it up from me personally. Thank you and let me know if you have any questions.
